Stratford on the Avon River is also known locally as one of the best towns to stop in if you love antiques, from rustic colonial furniture to exquisite jewellery. Loch Village just north of Wilsons Promontory is another pretty little village worth exploring. Market fresh

Wherever you are in Gippsland, you'll find a farmers' market close to you. Get your fill of fresh produce, meat and gourmet treats, from spuds and asparagus, stone fruit and berries to fresh fish, free range eggs and free range meat. There are even olives, olive oil, goat's cheese and fresh pasta for those keen on Mediterranean flavours.

Monthly farmers' markets are held at Maffra, Metung, Inverloch, Koonwarra, Drouin, Traralgon, Sale and Bairnsdale, as well as at numerous smaller towns across the region. Visitor information centres in the region provide brochures of individual markets and what's in season.
