Overview

Take to the wilderness trails, beach walks and cliff top tracks all over Phillip Island and be constantly surprised by the island's rich natural tapestry. No matter how many times you visit, there's always something new to explore.

Go your own way

With walks to suit every fitness level or inclination, there are plenty of ways to take in the natural environment and get some air at the same time. Take an easy stroll through lush wetlands and along quiet beaches, or take it up a notch on a challenging coastal track or cliff top walk.

Walking with wildlife

Walk the Bush to Bay Trail along the mangroves from the Koala Conservation Centre to Rhyll and spot rare migratory wading birds and other wildlife. Keep your eye out around Conservation Hill and Rhyll Inlet for bounding wallabies and link up with nearby Oswin Roberts Reserve, the last remaining remnant bushland on Phillip Island and another prime spot for wildlife watching. Walk along clifftops at the highest point on the island and witness flocks of birds fishing far out to sea as you climb a crest on the Cape Woolamai Trail.

Hugging the coast

Take in spectacular coastal views as you walk along a small, unsealed road from the Penguin Parade to the carpark at Point Grant (Nobbies). For views of Point Grant and the Nobbies, make your way from Pyramid Rock to Berry's Beach along a gently undulating cliff top track. Or take a half an hour stroll along Ventnor Beach for coastal views of Phillip Island and the Mornington Peninsula.

World heritage wetlands

Pound the boardwalks of the Scenic Estate Conservation Reserve between Newhaven and Surf Beach Estate to reach the viewing platform overlooking a world heritage Ramsar wetland and Churchill Island Marine National Park.
