For Naomi McIntosh and her family, the Mornington Peninsula lifestyle is second to none. Their day starts with sunrise over Western Port Bay and ends with a bushwalk or visit to a nearby beach. Chief Son's Distillery was established in 2013 and bottled their first batch of single malt whisky three years later. 1. Canadian Bay Beach
This quiet beach a short drive from the main village shops of Mount Eliza is a local secret. The clear water is perfect for snorkelling and the beach has city views across the bay. After a day at the distillery, Naomi likes to come here for picnic dinners on the beach and a stand-up paddleboarding session.
2. Flinders
This picturesque town has a historic streetscape, gourmet dining, boutique shops and art galleries. Naomi's advice? 'Eat ice cream, walk out on the pier to spot the manta ray and weedy sea dragons, then have dinner at Flinders Hotel.' Sounds like the perfect day out to us.
3. Stumpy Gully
This family-owned winery produces 11 varieties of wine and has a sensational restaurant onsite. 'It's our go-to celebratory restaurant, with some of the best fare the Peninsula offers.' Sample the seasonal à la carte menu for lunch or dinner.
4. Moorooduc Railway
Naomi cites this local bike track as an excellent day out for adults and kids alike. 'It runs along the old railway line, past farms, horses, llamas and wetlands, giving a snapshot of what makes our area so unique.' Take to two wheels to experience it for yourself.
5. Beer, Cider and Spirits Trail
Renowned for its gourmet dining, the Mornington Peninsula is jam-packed with craft breweries and boutique cideries and distilleries.
