Geoff Ogilvy's favourite golf holes in Victoria

As one of Australia’s finest golfers, Geoff Ogilvy knows a thing or two about great golf courses. Here are some of his all-time favourite holes in Victoria.

15th at Victoria Golf Club

A brilliant short par 4 played along a ridge, with beautiful Sand Belt bunkers lining the left side. This hole is a fantastic design that only gets more challenging the better you play. Precision and strategy are key here, as the layout can be deceivingly tricky.

17th at West Royal Melbourne Golf Club

Widely considered the perfect two-shot hole. Bunkers guard both the tee and the right side of the green, forcing you to take on both for success. The hole’s negative camber—a left-to-right slope on a dogleg right to left—adds an additional layer of difficulty, making it a true test for any golfer.

Arguably my favourite long par 3 in Melbourne. It requires a long iron to a small but beautifully designed green. Like most great holes, the more you try to conquer it, the more challenging it becomes.

3rd at Kingston Heath Golf Club

A terrific short par 4 that looks deceptively simple. The flat ground and a great green invite you to play close to the left fairway bunker for a better approach. But it’s a risk—tempting golfers to be more aggressive than is sensible.
